Baru Bistro and Tapas is a cozy restaurant on Magazine street, in the Garden District of New Orleans. Chef Edgar Caro combines the flavors of his home city, Cartagena, on the Northern coast of Colombia, with influences from Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the beaches of the Caribbean.

The restaurant is named after the island of Baru, a small vacation spot off the coast of Cartagena. Caro's menu features seafood in the style of the Caribbean coast, as well as meat dishes from the farm country in the outskirts of Cartagena.
